Girl Meets Dress

It’s the party season and everyone is on the lookout for that something special to wear. So imagine being able to wear a catwalk outfit or that amazing dress you saw your favourite celebrity wearing in one of the glossies…well now you can! Girl Meets Dress is the place to go…in fact you don’t have to go anywhere. It can all be done in the comfort of your own home; from the choosing and trying on, to the final decision.

Essentially GMD gives you the option to rent an outfit for a specified time period, the options available are between 2 or 7 nights. However, if you do require it for longer you can make arrangements directly with them. This is a brilliant concept, after all how much regular wear would you get if you purchased a designer dress? Even the celebrities “borrow” designer gowns for the evening, so why not us?

The website is easy to use, with selection menus being split into different categories, such as: Dresses, Designers, Occasions, Party Boutique, Styles, Accessories and Own It, which makes it very easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. There is even a “How It Works” button on the home-page, which answers many initial questions. GMD has a fantastic range of designer wear, enabling you to look like a “star” without having to splash the cash. They have over 4,000 designer pieces, utilising over 150 designers, such as this dress by Alexander McQueen, normally retailing at £235 but available for hire at just £29.

Other designers include, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Dina Bar-El, Herve Leger, Ariella and many more. Celebrities such as, Leona Lewis, Myleene Klass and Beverley Knight have recently been seen wearing Ariella. An example from the collection is this gorgeous gown, normally retailing at £800 but available to hire at £109 for 2 nights.

If you like the idea of owning a designer dress at a reduced rate then head to their “Own It” section, where you can get the designer look without the designer price tag. Not sure if the style is right for you? Then don’t worry, GMD have style advisors to help you decide, and the great thing about this service is that it is free. The stylists want you to be happy and can give you advice on how the dress will feel, which accessories will work best, etc. There is a chat-online box that pops up, so it’s easy to ask for advice.

Once you’ve found your desired item the process is fairly simple. You select the item, choosing the size and how many nights you require it for. Extra options are available which enable you to try the outfit before making a final decision and also options, such as insurance. GMD send you the outfit, if you are trying on and decide it is not for you then simply return it. Once you have used your outfit you simply return it back to GMD.

Can I try before I rent?

There are two options available for trying on the outfit – the standard free option is available when you are ordering within a week of your event. If however, you are ordering more than 30 days in advance of your event then they have an Advance Try On service, whereby you can try on your selections and then have your chosen one re-delivered back to you in time for your event. Please note: there is a service charge for this option.

As well as the already highly discounted prices GMD also run special offers, the current one being a £5 credit voucher, off your next order, when you recommend a friend – you get a voucher each! Also check out NetVoucherCodes.co.uk for any special codes that may be available.

Yes, designer dress agencies are great – there’s nothing better than looking and feeling like a million dollars, without having paid a million! :-)
