 More about Debenhams

Debenhams website

The first Debenhams store was opened by the business partners who formed Debenhams in 1778, but at this time it was not known by its current name but by the owners’ surnames, Flint & Clark. Years later an additional partner bought into the company called William Debenhams in 1813, leading to company being called Clark & Debenhams instead. Five years later the Debenhams empire was expanding with the second store being opened in Cheltenham. Clark decided to sell their share of the company in 1851 to a man called Freebody, causing yet another name change to Debenhams and Freebody. It wasn’t until over fifty years later that the company was named and became a limited company as Debenhams Limited. At this point the management and owners of Debenhams had an ambitious plan to roll Debenhams high street stalls out across the country into every town and city. Over the years this became a reality with two stores in London being their first purchases in Oxford Street, the centre of shopping in London, and Harvey Nichol’s in Knightsbridge. Many stores were bought during this time and kept their initial branding and packaging, until the store nationalised their entire branding and marketing under one banner. It was at this point that the company put itself as a listing on the stock exchange in 1928 allowing people and companies to buy shares in this lucrative company. Debenhams merged with the Burton group at one point, but eventually demerged to take back its original identity and direction. This occurred a couple of times with the company being bought out by a business consortium before regaining its own identity in 2006. The company has grown today to now sell goods on such sites as EBay and Amazon.

What do Debenhams sell?

With the initial product range of Debenhams being based around the booming industry of women’s clothing, when you look at the site today you can see how far Debenhams has come. They now cater for men’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes and designer clothing, with all the fashion trends and diversity that comes within each of these. The range of clothes within each section means that you can find what you want simply and quickly within the one category whether that is men’s informal wear such a t-shirts to suits and tailored shirts. To encompass all the possible needs of men and women these sections include accessories and grooming goods so that there is no need to trundle off to another store. As Debenhams is a store that wants to cater for all a family’s needs in terms of non perishable goods, Debenhams also caters for high end home goods such fridges, washing machines and other large and small electrical goods, along with all other home soft furnishings that you could think of.

Why Buy from Debenhams

Debenhams through a long history of trading has developed a name in high quality, reliable goods at reasonable prices. The store provides a diverse range of products for various sizes and tastes. The company keeps up to date with current trends and technologies with the stores being a mind boggling choice of goods with the only problem being limiting yourself to how much you buy. An excellent store for gift ideas, similarly the website hosts seasonal ideas and products for consumer ideas and to make your life easier. All the products are available as collection or international delivery, which many stores do not offer. Debenhams cards allow you to buy your goods without paying straight away at reasonable prices, often with regular bonuses for card holders. If you couple this with the business expanding into weddings, travel insurance and travel money how can you not use Debenhams as your one stop shop for all your needs.

Debenhams Review

The Debenhams website is just like visiting a Debenhams store you leave feeling satisfied, having found what you need, and possibly some things you just want, in an environment that makes you feel like you have received the first class service you do in store. The easy to navigate website with its opening page themes often relating to upcoming holidays give you the impression that anything you could need is just a click away. For those interested in the latest offers, goods available or simply to get the latest items you have the option of following Debenhams on particular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. Unlike the Debenhams stores that can be like a tardis in which you are lost for hours the website is simply laid into sections so that you can easily limit what you are looking at whether that be clothes, furniture or home goods, amongst others. Debenhams excellent marketing of their products and discounts available through the website mean that many of Debenhams followers may give up going to the store completely and shop online.

Debenhams Delivery Information

Once you have purchased your individual or group of goods online the question is how are you going to get it? The answer to this is that it is up to you, you can collect free from a store or depending on the particular pricing of delivery at the time get things delivered to your home from £3.99 or international from as little as £7.99. The website of Debenhams offer order tracking to see where your good currently are and also the all important cancellation or returns for whatever reason. If you are having a problem the excellent customer services centres of Debenhams would be more than happy to help or allow you to return your goods. Debenhams has two policies on returns whether that is in store or online bought goods, generally you have a 28 days to return or ask for an exchange of the goods. However the company does reserve the right to refuse a refund or exchange if the goods are returned in a non-saleable state or if you’ve damaged them. So you can’t wear that dress you bought and then return it.
