    About Handlestore

Since 2004, Handlestore has been providing affordable DIY window and door repair products from major brands across the UK. In the past 20 years, this family business has developed into one of the country’s leading window and door hardware stockists, helping homeowners buy and DIY for low-cost prices. They prioritise customer care and high-quality products, making it easy to buy everything from door handles and locks to hinges and window vents for your home.

Why we love shopping at Handlestore

    brown cabinet

I began using Handlestore during my home renovations in 2023. I originally used them to purchase black antique door handles for my revarnished doors that I decided to upcycle and have since become my go-to for door and window hardware.

As a keen upcycler, I love Handlestore for its budget prices. I regularly purchase cabinet handles for under £2 each from them. These low-cost price tags make it easy to give second-hand furniture a new look for next to nothing.

I especially enjoy the bulk discounts available across the store, which have allowed me to stock up on matching handles for furniture and doors around my house, ensuring a cohesive look. I also love that they offer frequent Handlestore discount codes, making it easy to earn additional savings on every order.

Upcycle, repair and refresh old and existing furniture with budget DIY door and window hardware from Handlestore

If you’re taking on a renovation, tackling a DIY project or just want to refresh some tired doors or windows, there are smarter ways to get the look you want without spending a fortune.

Here are our top tips on how DIY window and door hardware can help you get the most value for money on your furniture:

    1. Upcycle Furniture with Leftover Handles

If you’ve got leftover cupboard or drawer handles from previous DIY projects or old furniture, mix and match them across a dresser or wardrobe for a unique artsy look. If you buy a bulk pack of handles (cheaper per unit), any extras can be used to renew old side tables. Or, you can even repurpose them as wall hooks.

    2. Refresh Instead of Replace

Handles and hinges that are structurally sound but outdated can be spray painted using specialist metal paint. Satin black, brass or even antique copper can completely change the aesthetic of a room at a fraction of the cost of replacing. A £10 can of paint can refresh 10+ handles so it’s well worth it.

    3. Spindle Swapping for Window Handles

Handlestore lets you choose spindle sizes for UPVC window handles which means you can match your old ones without paying to replace the whole set. Measure carefully, and buy only the size you need. Replacing spindle bars is also a great way to restore a sagging handle, so give this a go before going for a full swap.

    4. Invest in Universal Window Keys

If you’ve got multiple window locks but you’ve lost the keys, don’t panic-buy replacements. Handlestore sells universal and replacement keys that often work across brands and are much cheaper than full handle sets.

    5. Mix Old & New for Door Sets

If you need multiple handles for different rooms, mix premium lever-on-rose styles on visible doors (like living rooms) and save with basic models for less-seen areas (like cupboards or airing cupboards ) to keep costs low.

    6. Repurpose or Sell old handles

If you’ve got old brass or vintage-style handles, resell them on local marketplaces like Facebook, Etsy or Depop where vintage hardware is in demand. You can use old handles as hooks in a hallway or garage or you can create a DIY key rack or towel rail using old backplates.

Product combinations that can help you save long-term:

    • Handles + Latches Sets: Handlestore offers packs that include handles and matching latches. These will save you around 10-15% compared to buying separately.
    • Window Handle Bulk Buys: If you’re redoing a full house, go for bulk multi-packs. Even if you only need 6 and the pack comes with 10, you’ll likely save more than buying 6 individually and extras can always be kept as backups.
    • Sash Window Packs: Complete sash window kits (fasteners, lifts and stops) are cheaper than buying parts together individually and are ideal for restoration projects.
