With Football fans looking forward to the World Cup making its return, we wanted to take a look into some of the most valuable World Cup memorabilia from over the years.
We’ve collated data by looking at all kinds of football memorabilia from retro shirts to football boots and have ranked them according to how valuable they are with some items being worth thousands.
Football shirts almost always appreciate in value as the years go on, that’s why it’s always worth grabbing one around a big football tournament and holding onto it for a few years to come.
If you do decide to collect a shirt or two from this year’s World Cup then be sure to keep the tags on. Shirts with tags on hold real value as they’re so hard to come by.
Football boots on the other hand are traditionally known for not upholding their value, however three pairs have made it into the top ten most valuable items with Nike’s Mercurial R9 1998 boots coming in first place at £3,500.
Tradable cards are another valuable souvenir which goes up in value over time.
Brands like Panini tend to bring out new editions yearly and it’s a great chance to get your hands on some new cards.
The real value however lies in completed sticker books with Panini’s 2002 Korea and Japan book valued at £410.
Their rare and original format and order is what makes this collectors item so valuable.
John Stirzaker, from the NetVoucherCodes team said: “The World Cup is almost here and football fans are in their element.
“We did some research into some of the most sought-after football memorabilia and I think some footie fans will be surprised to see just how much some of these items are worth.
“The most expensive item on the list were Ronaldo Nazario’s 1998 Nike Mercurial R9 boots which are worth a massive £3,500!
“Hardcore footie fans will want to get some of this years England shirts and sticker cards and down the line even these will be worth a fair few pennies!”
